On December 6th, I had the great pleasure of helping to cut the ribbon opening the new ramp from Business 83 South to

I-83 North and signifying the official end to a successful project eliminating "Dead Man’s Curve."

The new Senate Majority Leadership for the 2007-2008 legislative session was elected on November 20th.

I am honored to have been elected as Caucus Chairman.

At a press conference following leadership elections, I had the opportunity to discuss some of the issues I would like to address

through my role as Caucus Chairman.

Secretary of Agriculture, Dennis Wolff, testified at a Senate Agriculture and Rural Affairs Committee hearing

held in August to discuss conservation issues in Pennsylvania as part of the our efforts to “Preserve the PA Farmer” through the Farmers’ First Agenda.

In June, Senator Wenger and I held a press conference to unveil the second phase of our Farmers' First Agenda.

I joined some of my fellow legislators at a press conference in August to announce a package of gambling reform bills.

Dept. of Environmental Protection Secretary McGinty and Deputy Secretary Myers brought their knowledge of the Chesapeake Bay Tributary Strategy

to York for a community meeting at the York Fairgrounds.

I had the privilege of participating in Pan Am Tang Soo Do Federation's Mother's Day Demonstration and Black Belt Presentation on May 13th with

Grand Master Chong Su Kim and Master Dan Hyson, who was brave enough to hold the board while I learned how to strike it with a hammer fist technique.

While in Harrisburg for the PA Women Work Rally on April 26th, a number of local ladies from New Choices/New Options took the time to

visit with myself and Lieutenant Governor, Catherine Baker Knoll.

On April 22, 2006, the York County Federation of Sportsmen's Clubs dedicated a sign to the City of York that is now posted at Kiwanis Lake

depicting and providing information about three birds on Pennsylvania's endangered species list.

Allyssa Rommel and Eric Strittmatter, students involved with Leadership York’s Future Leaders of York program, joined me at the Capitol

on April 18th to observe my staff and I and the workings of the Senate.

March 22, 2006 - I had the privilege of presenting a citation to Miss Casey Morrison, a 7th grader at Central York Middle School and a member of the

Chesapeake Strikers Soccer Team, which defended its title in January as the National Champions in the Under-12 Female Competitive Division of the Kick-It 3v3 World Soccer Championships.

March 7, 2006 - The Senate Appropriations Committee held budget hearings during the first two weeks of March. This allows us to question

the Secretaries of each state department and agency with respect to their requests for funding in the 2006-2007 budget proposal.

February 16, 2006 - A group of students from York College visited me in Harrisburg to discuss environmental issues such as the Chesapeake Bay

Commission, Growing Greener, and recycling initiatives.

January 17, 2006 - At the 2006 Farm Show in January, Governer Rendell signed into law Senate Bill 618, legislation I sponsored to protect the state's

equine industry.
