The following is a list of bills and resolutions introduced in the 2005-2006 legislative session, including a brief description of the legislative intent and the most recent action that each bill has seen.

LEGISLATION:

SB 508 - An Act amending Title 34 (Game) of the Pennsylvania Consolidated Statutes, providing for a special license and license auction to hunt one elk.

SB 509 - An Act amending Title 20 (Decedents, Estates and Fiduciaries) of the Pennsylvania Consolidated Statutes, further providing for classification and order of payment of claims against the estate of a decedent.

SB 510 - An Act amending the act of March 10, 1949 (P.L.30, No.14), known as the Public School Code of 1949, further providing for courses of study adapted to age and other factors of pupils; and making an editorial change.

SB 595 - An Act amending Title 15 (Corporations and Unincorporated Associations) of the Pennsylvania Consolidated Statutes, further providing for qualifications of directors.

SB 618 - An Act amending Title 42 (Judiciary and Judicial Procedure) of the Pennsylvania Consolidated Statutes, limiting civil liability for injury or death in connection with equine activities.

SB 641 - An Act amending the act of May 22, 1933 (P.L.853, No.155), known as The General County Assessment Law, further providing for errors in assessments and refunds.

SB 843 - An Act amending the act of June 3, 1937 (P.L.1333, No.320), known as the Pennsylvania Election Code, providing for elections in the event of catastrophic loss. 

SB 844 - An Act amending the act of March 10, 1949 (P.L.30, No.14), known as the Public School Code of 1949, providing for a prototypical school facility design clearinghouse. 

SB 859 - An Act providing for appointment and promotion preference in public employment for volunteer firefighters. 

SB 860 - An Act amending the act of June 23, 1993 (P.L.128, No.29), known as the Plain Language Consumer Contract Act, further providing for contractual requirements.

SB 877 - An Act providing for "open contracting" by the Commonwealth and its political subdivisions and their agencies and authorities. Under this proposal, a state or local agency could not discriminate against a contractor because of their labor affiliation (or lack of affiliation with organized labor).

SB 878 – An Act amending the act of August 15, 1961 (P.L.987, No.442), known as the Pennsylvania Prevailing Wage Act, excluding political subdivisions from the act; authorizing optional prevailing wage ordinances; and making repeals.

SB 899 – An Act amending Title 42 (Judiciary and Judicial Procedure) of the Pennsylvania Consolidated Statutes, providing for Medical Reserve Corps unit civil immunity.

SB 940 – An Act amending the act of June 30, 1981 (P.L.128, No.43), known as the Agricultural Area Security Law, further providing for the Agricultural Conservation Easement Purchase Fund; providing for the Land Trust Reimbursement Program, for proceeds from sales by the Department of Agriculture and for grants for agricultural land conservation assistance; and making a related repeal.

SB 957 – An Act amending Title 18 (Crimes and Offenses) of the Pennsylvania Consolidated Statutes, providing for the offense of robbery on the premises of a financial institution.

SB 976 – An Act establishing a tuition credit program for certain members of volunteer fire companies, volunteer ambulance services and volunteer rescue squads and their dependent children and spouses; and providing for the powers and duties of the Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Agency.

SB 1009 – An Act amending the act of March 10, 1949 (P.L.30, No.14), known as the Public School Code of 1949, providing for supplemental funding for new students; establishing a special account; and making an appropriation.

SB 1052 - An Act amending Title 3 (Agriculture) of the Pennsylvania Consolidated Statutes, consolidating the act of May 15, 1939 (P.L.134, No.65), referred to as the Fireworks Law; further providing for definitions, for consumer fireworks facilities, for sale of consumer fireworks, for supervised public displays, for local ordinances and penalty and for confiscation; and making a related repeal.

SB 1209 - An Act providing for the Healthy Farms and Healthy Schools Program.

SB 1280 – An Act amending the act of March 10, 1949 (P.L.30, No.14), known as the Public School Code of 1949, further providing for definitions and for payments on account of pupils enrolled in vocational curriculums.

SB 1307 – An Act amending Title 4 (Amusements) of the Pennsylvania Consolidated Statutes, further providing, in gaming, for public official financial interest.

SB 1370 – An Act amending Title 18 (Crimes and Offenses) of the Pennsylvania Consolidated Statutes, further providing for the offense of involuntary manslaughter.

RESOLUTIONS:

SR 14 - A Resolution designating the month of February 2005 as "National Heritage Month" in Pennsylvania.

SR 41 - A Resolution endorsing the efforts of the International Martial Arts College of the United States and the International Martial Arts Committee of Pennsylvania.

SR 60 - A Resolution designating April 12, 2005, as "Pennsylvania Farm Bureau Day" and congratulating Pennsylvania Farm Bureau members for their contribution to this Commonwealth and to this Commonwealth's agricultural industry.

SR 101 - A Resolution congratulating Rotary International on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of its founding.

SR 138 - A Resolution expressing support of the efforts of the United States Secretary of the Interior to study the feasibility of designating the Captain John Smith Chesapeake National Historic Watertrail as a national historic trail.

SR 165 – A Resolution recognizing Saturday, September 24, 2005, as "National Sweet Potato Day" in Pennsylvania.

SR 170 – A Resolution designating the month of November 2005 as "Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Month" in Pennsylvania.

SR 250 - A Resolution designating April 4, 2006, as "Pennsylvania Farm Bureau Day" and congratulating Pennsylvania Farm Bureau members for their contribution to this Commonwealth and to this Commonwealth's agricultural industry.

SR 277 - A Resolution designating May 7, 2006, as "Vietnam Veteran Remembrance Day" in Pennsylvania.

SR 339 – A Resolution designating the month of September 2006 as "Campus Fire Safety Month" in Pennsylvania.

SR 340 – A Resolution designating the month of September 2006 as "Polycystic Kidney Disease Awareness Month" in Pennsylvania.

SR 343 – A Resolution designating the month of November 2006 as "Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Month" in Pennsylvania.
