FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Waugh Recognized as Outstanding Legislator of the Year by Conservation DistrictYORK - Sen. Mike Waugh (R-York), along with Rep. Ron Miller, received the 2008 Outstanding Legislator Award presented by the York County Conservation District at the organization's 60th Anniversary Banquet held on Friday night. "It is an honor to be acknowledged for the work many of us are striving to accomplish in order to protect our environment and conserve our natural resources," said Waugh. Waugh was recognized by the Conservation District for his continued efforts to improve conservation practices locally, statewide, and throughout the Chesapeake Bay region of the country. "Senator Waugh has been engaged with the Conservation District since he was a Representative in the House," said Mark Kimmel, Executive Director of the Conservation District. "And his involvement has only increased throughout his time as a member of the Senate and of the Chesapeake Bay Commission." Kimmel reflected on Waugh's participation in conservation tours, his support and sponsorship of legislative measures to benefit conservation efforts, and Waugh's being a champion for the annual Conservation District-sponsored Envirothon. "He is a great friend to the Conservation District through the work he does both locally and in Harrisburg, and we are grateful to have him on our side," said Kimmel. Waugh also recognized the Conservation District for its work throughout the years by presenting a Senate citation congratulating the organization on its 60th Anniversary. In addition to Senator Waugh, Senators Pat Vance, Senator Gib Armstrong, Senator Jeff Piccola, and Senator Terry Punt, all of whom represent a portion of York County, sponsored the citation. |
